This week Jimmy talks with Canadian theatre educator Jeff Marontate. They talk about his 30+ years in educational theatre, his work at the Stratford Festival, and COVID=19’s impact on students and theatres.

Jeff Marontate has been involved with theatre, the Stratford Festival and Off the Wall for many years. After earning his BA in Dramatic Art and English, Jeff worked for four seasons as the Education Assistant for the Stratford Festival. After that, for four years he held the position of Publicity Coordinator and Box Office Manager for the University of Windsor’s School of Dramatic Art and the University Players. After receiving his BEd, Jeff started a 29 year career teaching English and Dramatic Art with the Greater Essex County District School Board; for the last six years of that career he was Department Head and Program Leader for the Walkerville Centre for the Creative Arts. Jeff also teaches two dramatic art courses at the U of Windsor Faculty of Education, and recently completed his MA in English Literature with a focus on Canadian drama. Since 2003, he has been Resident Director of Korda Artistic Productions, a Windsor theatre group for which he has directed more than 40 plays. Jeff has recently been named Chair of the Board for Stratford Off the Wall.
